After the fatal traffic accident in a suspected illegal motorcycle race near Bielefeld, an 18-year-old is suspected of having committed a crime.
As announced by the Bielefeld public prosecutor's office, they issued an arrest warrant against him for manslaughter and participation in an illegal street race resulting in death.
A 58-year-old resident died when he wanted to use hand signals to warn the speeders in Hiddenhausen in the Herford district in north-eastern North Rhine-Westphalia that they were speeding too fast.
A 23-year-old hit him.
The resident died at the scene of the accident, the 23-year-old suffered serious injuries, and the second motorcyclist fled.
He is said to be the 18-year-old.
The public prosecutor reported that the police had become aware of the 18-year-old early on.
In an interrogation on Friday, however, he only said that he had not taken part in an illegal street race.
The homicide squad is still looking for witnesses who saw the two motorcyclists together on Tuesday evening before the accident.
