At 71: Oscar-winning actor William Hart dies Israel today

Hart, who won the prestigious award for his role in "Spider-Woman Kiss," previously revealed he had prostate cancer • His son, Will: "He died peacefully alongside his family" General Tadeus Ross from the Avengers film series


Oscar-winning actor William Hart passed away last night (Monday) at the age of 71. In 2018, the actor revealed that he had terminal-grade prostate cancer that reached to his bones.

He then claimed that he remained alive about the alternative chemotherapy treatment he had undergone.

"It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William Hart, the father and actor of a beloved Oscar, a week before his 72nd birthday," the actor's son, Will, was quoted as saying.

"He died peacefully while with his family under natural circumstances."

Hart burst into consciousness during the 1980s, during which time he won an Oscar for Best Actor for his role as Lewis in the 1985 film The Spider Woman's Kiss.

Later in his career he was nominated for an Oscar three more times for the films "Broadcasting News," "Stepchildren for God," and "A History of Violence."

Throughout his long career, Hart has collaborated with some of the biggest names in film history, including Steven Spielberg, Woody Allen, Wim Wenders, Nora Efron, James L.

Brooks, David Cronenberg, Ridley Scott and more.

The young audience knows him mainly thanks to his role in the "Avengers" film series, in which he played General Tadeus Ross.

The last time he appeared in the role was last year, when he starred in the movie "The Black Widow."

Before breaking out into the film world, Hart participated in a number of Broadway shows, one of which he also nominated for the Tony Award.

He received two Emmy Award nominations, for his role in the series "Damages" and for his role in the TV movie "Too Big to Fail."

"Huge loss"

Actor Mark Ruffalo, who starred alongside Hart in the "Avengers" movies as Bruce Banner / The Green Giant, praised him: "Wow, another huge loss to the game community. He was a wonderful actor."

Albert Brooks, who starred with Hart in "Broadcasters", also said goodbye to him: "It's very unfortunate for Jesus on the news. Working with him on the film was amazing, we will miss him very much."
