(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 14 - "From the former prosecutor of the International Criminal Court Carla Del Ponte clear and heavy words in favor of Putin's indictment and the possibility of extending the investigation also to Russian crimes in Syria. We thank you for your position public, as unequivocal as it is qualified, in favor of the indictment of Vladimir Putin at the International Criminal Court for war crimes and crimes against humanity for the war of aggression against Ukraine ".

Massimiliano Iervolino, Giulia Crivellini and Igor Boni, secretary, treasurer and president of Radicali Italiani declare this in a note.

"Just as it was done with Slobodan Milosevic, it is necessary first of all to hit the main responsible for the aggression against Ukraine with the arm of criminal law.

Carla Del Ponte also reminds us that there is no prescription for war criminals and against humanity and that the crime of rape is also considered a 'war crime', as sadly taught by the experience of thirty years ago in Bosnia.

She, bad prosecutor, she also opens another field of work for the International Criminal Court by pointing out what has happened and continues to happen in Syria, where the Russian military has been present since 2015 in support of the Syrian dictator Bashar Al Assad and have carried out indiscriminate attacks on the civilian population.

We invite Dr. Del Ponte and all European citizens to sign our popular petition for the indictment of Putin in The Hague, available on the Italian Radicals website in five languages: https://radicali.it/putin-allaja/ ", they conclude.
