The Milan-Turin once again ignites the passion of sportsmen who follow cycling.

Appointment tomorrow with the 103rd edition of the oldest race in the world, which precedes the very classic Milan-Sanremo by a few days, scheduled for Saturday.

The first edition of the Milan-Turin was held in 1876, the last was won by Primoz Roglic, one of the two Slovenian winners - the other is Tadej Pogacar - whether it is competed in one day or in stages. .

The Milan-Turin of tomorrow presents a very fast route that winds along the 199 kilometers of the track that connects Magenta to Rivoli, where the finish line is set: the race will pass through Vercelli and San Martino Canavese, in a stretch of road that is not flat, but not even particularly demanding for the participants.

The provinces crossed will be five in all: Milan, Novara, Vercelli, Biella and Turin.

Vincenzo Nibali will be back in the race after a month particularly full of setbacks, between positivity to Covid-19 and tonsillitis.

The athlete from Messina participated in only one race in 2022, the Vuelta Valenciana, staged from 2 to 6 February and closed in 16th place in the general classification.

Nibali will not be at the start, however, at the Milan-Sanremo, which he won in 2018. The last Italian success at the Milan-Turin, however, dates back to 2015, when an extraordinary Diego Rosa triumphed.

Among tomorrow's favorites stand out Slovak three-time road world champion Peter Sagan, Alessandro Covi, and Mark Cavendish.

Moschetti himself boasts some credentials: the young man from Trek appeared in great shape at the last Tirreno-Adriatico won by Matej Pogacar on Sunday in San Benedetto del Tronto.

On the other hand, the parterre of the Milan-Sanremo, like the Milan-Turin organized by RCS Sport, will be of a very different thickness: in addition to Pogacar, the Belgian Wout Van Aert will be at the start in search of success, and - barring complications - also the cronoman Filippo Ganna, in the last few days struggling with some line of fever.

'' Top-Ganna 'is keen to heal in time for the super classic in spring, also because in the past he has shown that he is ready to put his signature even on an inline race, because it is also from these details that he judges himself a champion .
