The bilateral government meetings started around 4.15pm.

In the intergovernmental session, even before the arrival of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella for the celebratory event, the Prime Minister Mario Draghi and the Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin were seated side by side, with the Italian, Vatican and of European Union.
On one side of the hall, in the Italian delegations, sat, among others, the foreign minister Luigi Di Maio, that of Labor Andrea Orlando, that of Education Patrizio Bianchi, the minister of disabilities Erika Stefani.
On the other side, in the Vatican delegation, the president of the Italian Episcopal Conference,
Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, the substitute for General Affairs, Archbishop Edgar Pena Parra, the Secretary for Relations with States, Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.
Particularly cordial were the moments of handshakes between card.
