What is the basic pension?
According to the

, the basic pension is an individual supplement to the pension.

Who gets the basic pension?
According to the report by the United Income Tax Aid, the basic pension is intended for all those who have worked for at least 33 years and paid into the pension insurance system - but who have earned less than 80 percent of average earnings during their working life.
So that pensioners still have enough to live on and do
not have to apply for Hartz IV,

What can I have earned during my working life in order to receive the basic pension?
In order to be entitled to the basic pension, the average income achieved over the entire working life must not exceed a certain upper limit.

According to the report, the basic pension surcharge is calculated from
all basic pension periods in which earnings amounted to at least 30 percent of the average earnings in Germany

However, this value is limited to a value that corresponds to a maximum of 80 percent of average earnings.

How much basic pension do I get?
According to the United Income Tax Assistance, the highest possible basic pension supplement is
418 euros per month.
But most pensioners who receive the basic pension are well below that.
The Ministry of Labor and Social Policy states that the average basic pension is around 75 euros per month.
