The corona pandemic has hit brick-and-mortar retail hard.

Primark will close two stores due to commercial losses.

Berlin - Closing instead of reopening: Since 2009, Primark has been expanding its presence in more and more German cities.

Berlin, Cologne, Munich or Hamburg - the cheap fashion chain is represented everywhere.

There are now 32 branches in Germany.

For the first time, Primark now wants to close branches in Germany.

Primark closes two branches in Berlin and Hesse: "Commercially no longer attractive"

Two shops in Berlin and Hesse are affected by the closure.

"Primark plans not to renew the leases of the Primark stores in Weiterstadt and Berlin Schlossstrasse from January 31, 2023 and April 30, 2023," it says.

"This is based on routine site reviews which concluded that both sites are no longer commercially attractive for Primark."

The employees of the affected branches were personally informed about the step.

Primark plans to launch a new website for its UK stores at the end of March.

All other countries are to follow in autumn.

At Primark's low prices, home delivery of products is not worthwhile for the company.

The coronavirus pandemic has hit stationary retail hard.
