Daddy Yankee has also been satisfied with his legacy for the youth of Puerto Rico.
“In the neighborhoods where we grew up, most of us wanted to be drug traffickers.
Today, I go down to the neighborhoods and the hamlets and most of them want to be singers.
That is worth a lot to me,” he explains.
However, in the video he assures that he announces his retirement from music by delivering his "best production" and his "best concert tour".
The artist's musical career began with the album
Playero 34
, by music producer DJ Playero, and where the word reggaeton was heard for the first time.
Later, with his vision of taking the genre to another level, he continued to participate in other productions and also joined a duet with Nicky Jam, releasing his album,
Hace Escante
.
However, the duo broke up and Yankee released
Barrio Fino
in 2004 , which included the song
Gasolina
, which catapulted him to worldwide fame.
Daddy Yankee continued to release several albums, including
El Cartel: The Big Boss
,
Mundial
and
Prestige.
At the end of 2017, he released Despacito
, one of the most listened to songs in recent years,
together with singer-songwriter Luis Fonsi .
