Against the background of the rise of the corona wave along with public fatigue from restrictions, the Ministry of Health is examining the possibility of returning a limited and controlled number of restrictions.
Some of the restrictions are the return of isolation to those who come in contact with a patient (currently the isolation obligation is only for contact within the family), wearing a mask in gatherings outside, increasing police enforcement of the obligation to wear a mask indoors, and possibly returning measures to reduce infection cycles. Alongside these, the Ministry of Health intends to launch an information campaign to encourage vaccines in the third dose for adults and in the fourth dose for at-risk populations, but not for children at this stage.

"I estimate that in the coming week we will see an increase in the difficult cases that are hospitalized and that is what worries us the most. These are people who are in danger of death," says a senior health ministry official.
"We see the verified data and we see an increase in the presence of the virus in sewage monitoring and we understand that we are in a wave. Whether the end of the fifth wave or the beginning of Friday is a semantic matter."
It is estimated that the increase is due to three reasons: the Purim events and the general public atmosphere of the "end of the corona" along with the abolition of almost all restrictions, the dominance of sub-variant 2BA which is considered up to 50% more contagious and the attenuation of the vaccines.
At this stage there is no data indicating the possibility of re-infection of Omicron recoverers in sub-variant 2BA.

Data presented by Prof. Blitzer show that among those aged 70 and over, the population in a low socio-economic situation became infected and died 3 times more than in the population in a high state.
3% of those aged 70 and over in low socioeconomic status were hospitalized in severe cerebral palsy and half (1.4%) died, compared with 0.8% of those infected in a high socioeconomic status, of whom only 0.3% died.
At the same time, the complementary picture is the picture of immunization: only 12.3% of those aged 70 and over were in a good socio-economic situation.
"One of the main reasons for this difference is significant disparities in immunization. There is currently no talk of another vaccine. It is important that those who have not received a booster will accept that the disease is with us and there is clear evidence that third and fourth vaccines significantly protect against serious illness."
