(ANSA) - ROME, MARCH 21 - Russia has announced the abandonment of talks with Japan on the establishment of common economic activities in the southern Kuril Islands due to Tokyo's "hostile position" in relation to the conflict with Ukraine.
This was reported by Interfax citing the Foreign Russian Ministry.
The two countries have never signed a peace treaty since World War II due to a territorial dispute over the four southern islands, claimed by Japan, which host Russian air and naval military bases.
