(ANSA) - CROTONE, MAR 21 - An 18-year-old young man was denounced in a state of freedom by the carabinieri with the accusation of having been driving the van that last night, in the suburbs of Crotone, hit a 5-year-old girl from a few days in Italy with their parents to escape the war, causing their death.

The same complaint also for the father of the young man, aged 44, who was in the van with his son.


    The young man is accused of aggravated road murder, while his father is accused of complicity in the same crime.

The investigations that led to the two complaints were conducted by the Carabinieri of the Operational and Mobile Unit of the Crotone Company, assisted by the military of the Operational Department of the Provincial Command.


    The road along which the accident occurred, in the "Cantorato" locality, is the provincial road 22. The little girl, who had arrived in Italy on February 26, when she was hit by the van, was together with her 17-year-old cousin, who lives in Crotone for some years together with his mother, employed in a farmhouse, and the latter's boyfriend, a sixteen year old from Crotone.

The latter, also invested, was hospitalized with a reserved prognosis in the Crotone hospital, but is not in danger of life.

The Crotone Public Prosecutor's Office, which coordinates the investigations of the carabinieri, ordered the autopsy on the girl's body.
