In the Medyka camp, on the border between Poland and Ukraine, Lilian Boulard does not go unnoticed.
The entrepreneur wanders between the humanitarian stands decked out in a hat and a pirate wig and wearing a tricolor flag in the colors of France.
“At first the children were a little scared, so I decided to dress up as a pirate.
Now they can't stop laughing, ”explains the Bordelais.
Camped in front of a small white tent, he distributes smiles but also basic necessities for toddlers.
Nappies, milk, hygiene products, blankets, sweets… Lilian tries to meet the needs of mothers fleeing the Russian invasion with their babies as best as possible.
“They have nothing left at all when they arrive”, testifies the one that everyone now nicknames “Jack Sparrow”.

Shocked by the images of the war, the fifty-year-old “left everything” two weeks ago to help at the border.
“Originally I just had to pick up a family and leave.
But since there was no one, I started giving away my blankets, my shoes, my coats… We see thousands of babies every day.
What is happening here is terrible, ”he says, referring to the “garbage” pimps who roam near the camp.
“At the beginning, they were there with their greasy hair and their big belly.
And then they looked at the girls.
They chose them,” he recalls with a pout of disgust.
“Former French and Spanish soldiers have joined us.
We asked them to police rather than help us distribute compotes.
We also made leaflets for prevention.
Now everyone is making a mistake, ”he concludes, satisfied.
