Last Sunday lived up to its name in many places - and was just a foretaste of the coming spring-like days.
The beautiful weather is really picking up speed this week: blue skies, lots of sun and temperatures around 20 degrees, as predicted by the German Weather Service (DWD) in Germany.
In the west and south-west in particular, the maximum daily temperatures are rising sharply.
"The sun smiles from the sky from dawn to dusk and that's now a full twelve hours a day," said a DWD meteorologist in Offenbach.
Only the nights are still cold, there is still frost in places.
drought a problem
However, the dry spring weather is causing problems for plants and nature.
The drought is becoming more and more of a problem, said the meteorologist.
In eastern Germany and parts of the south, not a drop of rain has fallen since the beginning of the month.
Accordingly, the risk of forest fires, especially in the east, is already very high at level four out of five.
Also on Sunday there was only rain worth mentioning in the extreme west of Germany.
According to the DWD, it was two to eight liters per square meter at the border with the Netherlands.
