Against the background of a jump in the number of positives: Epidemic treatment team members met for the first time in two months to formulate recommendations for dealing with the infection • Call for at-risk populations: "Do not wait for the fourth vaccine" • Patients rated: Medium score

Corona disease in Israel is once again raising its head and against the background of the surge in the number of positives for Corona and the increase in the coefficient of infection, the epidemic treatment team (OTZM) convened last night for a discussion, after not meeting for about two months.

The team members tried to formulate recommendations regarding a possible strategy for dealing with the current increase in morbidity, given the public fatigue and the shadow of the revelations about the characteristics of the BA2 sub-variant, which is much more contagious than the omicron, but similarly does not cause serious illness.

The experts heard an overview of the disease state in Corona in Israel and the situation and policy in the world, as well as recommendations for improving the readiness of the health system in the next wave.

In addition, a review was heard regarding the polio disease in Israel.

A discussion is expected today from the heads of the Ministry of Health, in cooperation with the Home Front Command and other parties, on continuing to prepare for the disease, emphasizing possible restrictions such as returning the obligation to wear masks in open spaces, isolating infected contacts, increasing enforcement of wearing masks indoors and returning the possibility of school inspections.

At the same time, further employment of corona trustees is expected to be discussed.

Increase in the number of vaccinated

At the same time, against the background of the increase in morbidity, it should be noted that there has also been a sharp jump in the number of people vaccinated against the corona virus: in the last two days, about 1,700 companies have been vaccinated

According to data from the Maccabi Health Insurance Fund, this is more than double the number of vaccinated on Sundays and Mondays last week.

The head of the health division at Maccabi Health Services, Dr. Miri Mizrahi Reuveni, said: "Whether it is the end of the fifth wave or a new wave of illness, it is very important that everyone who feels the symptoms be tested.

We call on at-risk populations who have not yet been vaccinated with the fourth vaccine to do so soon, as the vaccine prevents infection and serious illness. "

Data from the Ministry of Health updated to yesterday morning reflects a situation that indicates a continued increase in coronary heart disease.

According to the data, 14,460 new verified persons were identified in Israel yesterday, which is 16.64 percent of 110,928 new tests.

In this respect the increase in the number of verified ones per day continues and an addition of 1,500 new verified ones compared to yesterday’s number.

The spike in morbidity comes after many Purim parties were held over the past week.

Patients rated: Medium score for corona wards

Those hospitalized in the corona wards show moderate-high satisfaction with the hospitalization, when according to a survey of the "experience of the patient in the corona wards" conducted by the Ministry of Health, men were more satisfied than women.

High satisfaction was recorded with regard to the attitude of the medical and nursing staff, and poorer satisfaction was recorded due to the loneliness, the small number of family visits, and especially the hospitalization in the underground wards.

The overall score for the level of satisfaction with the hospitalization in the corona wards was 3.9 on a scale of 5-1.

Higher satisfaction was recorded with the care of the nurses (4.3), the care of the doctors (4.2) and the warmth and interest in the patient (4.1).

Relatively low satisfaction was reported from staff assisting in relieving feelings of loneliness (3.6), ways of communicating with staff such as distress button or WhatsApp (3.8), and food and physical conditions in the ward (3.8).

The findings also show that men's satisfaction with the hospitalization in the Corona ward was, as mentioned, higher in all parameters than that of women.

The average score for men was 4.2 and for women 3.8.

The difficulties of hospitalization

The inpatients were asked to answer open-ended questions on topics such as: What helped you the most in the hospitalization?

What is the most difficult and disturbing?

And what would you recommend in order to improve hospitalization time?

Patients responded with answers such as "isolation in a room without seeing the sun", "do not treat me and evade, I was transparent", "unbearable pain and thoughts when it will pass?", And on the other hand "attitude and lightness of the staff" and "what helped me is my optimism" .

The patients' recommendations for improving the quality of care in the corona wards were: reinforcement of the workforce, proactive contact with the family, separation between patients in a difficult and easy situation, allowing visits, improving physical conditions and addressing the special needs of patients and providing assistance accordingly.

The conclusions of the survey were presented this week at the "Israeli Society for Quality of Care" conference.

The survey included 1,003 patients whose average duration of hospitalization in the corona wards was about a week and a half (average 9.4 days of hospitalization).

Didi Shavit from the Ministry of Health, who presented the findings of the survey, noted that "there have been many complaints about the issue of hospitalization in underground wards. We recommend that hospitals study their individual findings and improve accordingly. That he can influence his condition. "
