The excesses of the spring break parties are becoming too much for Miami Beach this year, the US city has declared a state of emergency and imposed curfews at night until the weekend.
The measures are intended to prevent violent incidents as in the past few days.
A total of five people were injured by gunfire on Sunday and Monday.
Mayor Dan Gelber and City Manager Alina Hudak announced the emergency order at a press conference.
The curfew will therefore apply from Thursday to Monday from midnight to 6 a.m. for the South Beach area.
The famous Ocean Drive is also affected.
Hudak also signaled that he wanted to recommend an extension of the measures.
Miami Beach attracts numerous students from all over the country during the spring break every year.
The city in the US state of Florida is notorious for excessive drinking, which often leads to violence.
'We can't take this anymore.
We just can't take it anymore," Mayor Gelber said.
“It's not your father's or your mother's spring break.
That's something completely different.« According to him, around 100 firearms have been confiscated in the past four weeks alone.
In addition, several police officers were injured during checks.
Last year, Miami declared a state of emergency and imposed a curfew due to a particularly strong onslaught of spring break revelers.
At that time, the police are said to have arrested more than 1,000 people.
