Sick leave extended by telephone – in which cases you will receive the AU

In order to keep a possible risk of infection in medical practices small, insured persons should continue to receive sick leave for up to seven calendar days by telephone.

Due to the ongoing risk of corona infection*

in Germany, the

 for mild respiratory infections will

initially remain in place until May 31st.

The Federal Joint Committee extended the corresponding special rules by a further two months, as announced on March 18 in Berlin.

The body is responsible for determining healthcare benefits.

The committee announced that the extension was appropriate despite the nationwide relaxation of the corona virus.

In order to keep the possible risk of infection in medical practices small, insured persons should still be able to receive a sick note for up to seven calendar days over the phone in the event of minor diseases of the upper respiratory tract.

Patients and employees would be protected in this way.

A one-off extension of the sick leave can be issued by telephone for a further seven calendar days, according to the Federal Committee.
