Along with the increase in morbidity: the demand for vaccines is growing Israel today

The Prime Minister and the Minister of Health are expected to discuss the state of the disease today and the increase in the coefficient of infection • It seems that there will be no further restrictions •

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz are expected to discuss tomorrow (Thursday) a renewed rise in morbidity and the possibility of launching a targeted vaccination campaign for the third and fourth vaccines for the at-risk population.

This is against the background of the increase in the number of positives for corona and the coefficient of infection.

To date, 8,185 new infections have been diagnosed and 301 patients are in critical condition.

For the first time in two months the infection coefficient exceeded the value 1.

This means that in the coming days there is also expected to be an increase in the number of patients in critical condition, when at present their number is the lowest since January.

At the same time, it does not appear that there will be any recommendations at this stage for any restrictions on the part of the Ministry of Health.

The only issue to be discussed will be an extension of the installation of the mask-wearing obligation, which is due to end on April 1 but will probably be extended further.

In addition, the Ministry of Health is planning a vaccination campaign targeted at the fourth dose and at populations at risk, including in nursing homes.

The Ministry of Health earlier this week raised several options for restrictions in light of rising morbidity, including wearing masks at events held in open spaces, increasing enforcement and returning the isolation duty to people who came in contact with carriers (currently the isolation duty only applies to family contacts), but these recommendations will not be discussed today.

Meanwhile, epidemic treatment team members discussed the world morbidity situation on Tuesday.

"There was an optimistic message in the discussion from data presented from the Netherlands, where there was an increase in morbidity in variant BA2 and then a decrease. Although this is evidence from only one country, it gives room for optimism," said a source present at the meeting.

"Data were also presented on countries that have returned the restrictions, but most countries in the world are in the process of removing the restrictions. We talked a lot about the issue of the fourth dose, which is very important in protecting against serious illness. .

HMO data show that there is a slight awakening in demand for a fourth dose.

A week ago, we vaccinated about 550 people in the fourth dose, while yesterday there was a 3 times higher demand and 1,751 people were vaccinated in the fourth dose.

Of those hospitalized in critical condition, 33% are not vaccinated, 30% are veterans vaccinated in three doses and 21% are vaccinated in a fourth dose.
