The Corona-Warn-App shows if you have had contact with infected people.

The red messages should now disappear earlier with a new update.

Kassel – In order to be able to better understand chains of infection in the corona pandemic *, the federal government has launched the Corona warning app.

With a new update, the app should now be clearer.

After a positive corona test, users can enter their result in the app.

Other people who have had contact with the infected person will see this in their app.

Red messages mean that there is an increased risk of infection - or specifically, it means that your own cell phone has been in the vicinity of an infected person's cell phone for a longer period of time.

Green alerts indicate a lower risk.

Especially if people go shopping regularly or often use public transport, the app is currently often red due to the extremely high corona numbers.

This also results in a kind of habituation effect and the warnings are sooner or later ignored.

So that this is no longer the case, a new update should make the warnings disappear earlier, as reported by several media, citing the developer platform GitHub.

Corona warning app with a new update: red warnings should disappear after 10 days

The project team from RKI, Deutsche Telekom and SAP gives an initial insight into the plans for the "new" Corona warning app on Github: With version 2.20, the red messages should only be displayed for 10 instead of 14 days.

In addition, it is apparently planned for the new version that the QR code will be removed from the certificate details.

The red warnings should also be displayed if the test is positive.

After the quarantine period of seven days, all warnings should be displayed again permanently.

If the tile is already red and there is another corona risk encounter, users should receive another notification in the future.

In addition, there should be an adjustment of details in the vaccination and recovery certificates.

The app then provides information about the changed 3G, 2G or 2G-Plus status after the registration of a third vaccination - or a change in the corona rules.

New update for the Corona warning app: Red tile should disappear faster

The red tile has so far appeared when users have had contact with a person who has tested positive for at least 15 minutes.

However, the warning also appears if those affected have had contact with several people who have had low-risk contacts.

The risk minutes per day are therefore summed up.

Only recently did the Robert Koch Institute warn where it would be better to switch off the Corona warning app*.

The high incidence is causing problems for the app.
