BOLOGNA - Crowdfunding campaign to support Ukrainian children's book printing Over 3 million refugees and, among them, many children who have left their homes with the bare minimum.
These children need comfort.
These children need to continue being children.
They need to play, learn, read.
The Ukrainian Book Institute, with the support of the Federation of European Publishers, appeals to the generosity of the book world by launching a crowdfunding campaign in support of Ukrainian children's book printing at the Bologna International Children's Book Fair.
With the support of the Bologna Children's Book Fair - and all the other fairs that want to join the call - the
Ukrainian Book Institute hopes to raise enough funds to print hundreds of thousands of children's books in Europe, as the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, where the major printing works are located, was heavily bombed by Russian attacks.
These books in Ukrainian will allow children to entertain themselves and at the same time to maintain the connection with their land.
"In these terrible days of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, our friends and colleagues from the Ukrainian Book Institute have asked us to support our fundraising so that we can continue to print Ukrainian books and distribute them to children. that it is our duty to help our fellow publishers in Ukraine and to do everything possible so that Ukrainian children have access to books. It is important for the world of books to show solidarity. If you can, please donate. All funds will be spent on print books and they will be administered by Ubi "explain Peter Kraus vom Cleff, president of the Federation of European Publishers and Ricardo Franco Levi, vice-president of the Fep and president of the Italian Publishers Association.
All the funds raised will be managed remotely by the UIB which will be responsible for the choice of titles and which will coordinate with the local authorities for the printing and distribution of children's books.
The Fep will act as guarantor of the operation.
