The sight of empty shelves in supermarkets is currently not uncommon.

But what this tweet from Rostock shows, you can't trust even a horde of hoarders.

Rostock - Some everyday things sneak into our lives unnoticed.

Without realizing it, it becomes so natural that his sudden disappearance takes us away more than we thought.

This is what happened to a man from Rostock, who said a touching "Adieu" to his trusted grocer via Twitter, along with great praise - and said goodbye with an amazing bargain.

"Bye Real" - Rostock branch is finally closing its doors, the successor is already in the starting blocks

There was a long fight, but in June 2020 it was clear: Real is sold.

With the new owner SCP, a Russian investor, things would soon change for the food retailer founded in 1992, which employed 34,000 people at the time.

Dozens of stores from Edeka, Kaufland and Globus have already been taken over with the aim of winding up Real in the next two years (see video).

The Real in the "Ostsee Park" shopping center in Rostock is now also sharing this fate - on Wednesday (March 23, 2022) the supermarket giant from Düsseldorf will close its doors.

While Real is selling off the last goods, the globe, which will open its doors in Rostock on April 7, 2022, is already being diligently built.

On April 7, 2022, the store will open after a “short, two-week renovation phase, during which [...] [all] the current 134 real employees [receive] extensive training to to give them the best possible start with their new employer” as Globus neu.

The company with more than 20,000 employees operates in the Czech Republic, Russia, Luxembourg and Germany, where it operates food, hardware and electronics stores.

"Real - for the very last time, there is almost nothing left in it" - customer says goodbye to supermarket giants

For the customers, some of whom the supermarket in Rostock had accompanied for years, it was now time to say goodbye.

And it was more emotional than you might think.

One man tweeted scenes from the market that far outshine any hoarder looting and praised: "Bye real, it was always a good supermarket".

The users of the social media platform could only agree with him.

"They always...really kept it," agreed one comment with a Denglish smirk.

"After all, it goes straight on [...]".

In fact, the fate of some branches remains uncertain, causing concern not only for customers but also for employees.

But there was still a wink when saying goodbye: In order to get the market empty in time, Real recently offered extreme discounts.

The loyal customer grabbed it - certainly out of sentimentality:

With a discount of almost 49%, which is almost unimaginable at the moment, and the touchingly modified advertising slogan "Real - for the very last time, there is almost nothing left in it" the man decided his last purchase at the supermarket he trusted - that's where the 13 loyalty points really were more than deserved.
