The federal prosecutor's office has brought charges against a suspected Islamist for preparing a bomb attack.
According to a statement, the man is said to have planned a bomb attack in the Hamburg area.
The authorities in Karlsruhe announced that he was suspected of having prepared a serious act of violence that was dangerous to the state as an adolescent.
The police arrested the then 20-year-old Abdurrahman C. in Hamburg in August, and the federal prosecutor's office took over the investigation in December.
Accordingly, the accused planned an attack on the 20th anniversary of the Islamist terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in the USA.
The man was based on the actions of the Chechen brothers, who had committed an attack on the marathon in Boston in 2013.
The German-Moroccan C. has a radical Islamist attitude, the federal prosecutor said.
He was concerned with a possible departure for Syria and obtained information about the religious justification for the "killing of infidels".
Act apparently planned since January 2021 at the latest
He is said to have been planning the attack since January 2021 at the latest.
The accused obtained materials for the bomb construction, including chemicals, screws and nuts.
The suspect had come across undercover investigators while trying to buy a hand grenade and a semi-automatic firearm on the Darknet.
He is now also accused of violations of the War Weapons Control Act and the Weapons Act.
The Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg decides on the charges;
a possible trial would also take place there.
