Bad news from Miami for Matteo Berrettini: a problem with his right hand stops the blue who had to debut today against Juan Manuel Cerundolo in the second Masters 1000 of the season.

Three blues are therefore expected to make their debut in the next few hours (Musetti already eliminated by the Australian Alexei Popyrin): Sinner, Sonego and Fognini.

In Acapulco the stop for an abdominal problem, now for a discomfort in the right hand: it is definitely not the best period for Berrettini.

The n.1 of the blue tennis, n.6 of the ATP ranking and n.4 of the draw, retired even before taking the field from the second Masters 1000 of the season, underway in Miami.

The Argentine Juan Manuel Cerundolo, 20 years old from Buenois Aires, # 122 ATP, will now face a lucky loser.

The next appointment to see Berrettini on the field is therefore that of Montecarlo (9-17 April).

Without Berrettini and Musetti (eliminated in the first round 7-5, 7-6 by the Australian Alexei Popyrin, No. 92 in the ranking), there are three Azzurri on the field today.

Drawn in the lower part of the board, the one manned by Alexander Zverev, they all enter the race directly in the second round as seeded.

Jannik Sinner, n.11 of the ranking and 9 of the seeding, finalist last year (stopped by Hurkacz), will have to contend with the Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori, n.71 ATP.

The 20-year-old from Sesto Pusteria is 2-1 ahead in direct comparisons with the 22-year-old from Helsinki.

Lorenzo Sonego, n.21 in the ranking and 19 in the seeding, will make his debut against the American Denis Kudla, n.84 ATP, coming from the qualifiers: between the 26-year-old from Turin and the 29-year-old of Ukrainian origin (he was born in Kiev) there are no precedents.

Finally Fabio Fognini, n.34 in the ranking and 31 in the seeding, will face the Japanese Taro Daniel, n.106 ATP, already beaten both in the Davis Cup (fast indoor) and in the first round on the grass of Wimbledon always in 2018.
