There are just a few days left for the official response on the proposed candidacy for the Unesco intangible heritage for the 'cup',
one of the most popular drinks in the world and which has developed a centuries-old history from Naples to Venice.
On March 29, the dossier "The Italian espresso coffee between culture, ritual, sociability and literature in the emblematic communities from Venice to Naples", will be examined by the Unesco Italian National Commission which will have to formally decide whether to send it to Paris to obtain the prestigious registration of the site by 2022.
A demanding technical path that has in fact united the many faces of the goodness and quality of Italian coffee, the Ministry of Agricultural Policies, which presented all the documentation for the final exam, announced.
And so Italy has made a synthesis and the eleven emblematic communities of coffee, Turin, Milan, Venice, Trieste, Bologna, Rome, Naples, Lecce, Pescara, Palermo and Modica have signed the Charter of Values of the Italian Espresso Rite which list those worthy of being shared with all humanity.
A highly anticipated result that would add to the many Italian food and wine treasures already registered on the site, from the Italian art of truffle hunting (2021), to the Mediterranean diet (2010), to the art of Neapolitan pizza makers (2017).
In support of the candidacy, public subscription is underway through initiatives in the cities involved.
