Covid-19 live: increase in contamination in France, easing of restrictions in Spain

2022-03-27T06:53:23.900Z

The epidemic rebound is there, but this should not increase the admissions of infected people to the hospital.

The number of people testing positive for Covid-19 has increased further, proof that the 6th wave of the epidemic has started again.

While hospitalizations have stopped falling, but are not rising either.

At the same time, Spain announces a relaxation of its restrictions and in particular on its follow-up of people suspected of having been infected.

Contaminations still on the rise but hospitalizations are stable

Public Health France reports 139,517 cases of Covid-19 recorded in 24 hours, against 143,571 the day before and 98,104 the previous Saturday.

The seven-day average, which smooths out the daily jolts, is 123,360, compared to 86,022 cases seven days earlier.

The number of #Covid patients admitted to hospital every day continues to increase (moderately: +9% in one week).

As for hospitals, the authorities announce 20,532 people hospitalized with a diagnosis of Covid-19, a stable figure compared to previous days (20,616 on Friday and 20,440 on Saturday March 19).

The number of hospital admissions is also stable (619, against 620 last Saturday).

Critical care wards, which receive the most serious cases, have 1,481 patients, according to figures released on Saturday.

They were 1,489 on Friday and 1,644 a week ago.

In the past 24 hours, 59 deaths have been recorded, bringing to 141,631 the number of people who have succumbed to the disease in France since the start of the epidemic.

Strong easing of restrictions in Spain

Spared by the epidemic rebound which is hitting Western Europe, Spain will greatly lighten its system for testing and monitoring contact cases on Monday.

In detail, the tests will be reserved, as a priority, for people aged at least 60, those who are most fragile (immunocompromised, pregnant women, etc.) and professionals in the medical and medico-social environment.

Asymptomatic people will no longer have to isolate themselves if they are infected with Covid (in any case, they will no longer necessarily have to be tested).

Children of dead caregivers become wards of the Nation

The decree entered the Official Journal on Saturday.

Caregivers who died during the epidemic will have the status of "Dead in the service of the Republic".

According to this decree, health professionals and public officials who died between January 1, 2020 and July 31, 2022, may have this status on their death certificate.

Caregivers who died from #Covid will be able to receive the honorary status of "death for the service of the Republic" (decree this Saturday), as announced by E.Macron at the end of May 2021.

This will allow their children to become wards of the Nation.

This status offers them material support from the state until they are 21 years old.

Easing of restrictions in several countries

Poland ends mask-wearing obligations as well as quarantine measures imposed on travellers.

It is also the end of the screening of contact persons in Spain, where the partial unemployment scheme will soon be lifted.

Regarding the restrictions imposed on travelers, New Zealand is lifting those imposed on Australians, Malaysia and Singapore are reopening their borders to vaccinated people and Singapore.

At the same time, the American company United Airlines reopens its doors to its non-vaccinated employees.
