Phil Collins said goodbye to his fans at the last Genesis concert.

"This is the last gig for Genesis," said the ailing pop star on Saturday night at London's O2 Arena - and joked that he'll need a "real job" now.

After unsuccessful cervical and back surgery, the 71-year-old Collins says he can no longer hold a drumstick.

He also suffers from problems with the pancreas and walking difficulties.

In London, Collins sang songs like "Land of Confusion" while sitting.

His bandmates Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford looked visibly moved.

Collins, Banks and Rutherford performed together for the first time in years for Genesis' farewell tour "The Last Domino".

Collins' son Nicholas played the drums at times.

Because of the corona pandemic, several concerts had to be canceled or postponed.

With around 150 million records sold, Genesis is one of the most successful bands of the 20th century.

The Briton Collins was not a founding member, but rose to lead singer after Peter Gabriel left in the mid-1970s.

Songs like "Mama", "Invisible Touch", "No Son of Mine" or "Jesus He Knows Me" became world hits in the 1980s and 1990s.

Phil Collins has also had great success as a soloist, including with »In the Air Tonight«.
