After more than a decade since his death: Maybe we really lost a giant star | Israel today

2022-03-29T07:41:09.192Z

The actor who passed away more than a decade ago wins a film that shows not only the beautiful sides of who was a very big star in the 80s and 90s, but also the demons that accompanied him alongside the glory • He does not offer new information, but the love thrown at him by Swayze She is simply comforting to his relatives

Patrick Swayze had everything it took to become a star: he looked good, he knew how to dance, sing and even play - a sure recipe for success.

For years he tried to break out and succeed as an actor, and his star shone not necessarily when he was young and fresh, but only when he reached the "extreme" age of 35 - thanks to the great success of "Corrupt Dance".

More than a decade has passed since Swayze died at the age of 57 from cancer, and one must admit a bitter truth - as a player, it is not noticeable that this is a great loss.

He was not a bad actor at all, but never appeared in roles that could have made him an A-list, one that the whole world knows.

It is impossible to say that he did not try, and a new film about him ("Patrick Swayze: A Hollywood Icon") reveals that this may be a big miss for the film world.

We all know the actor Patrick Swayze, but the film about him presents aspects that were not necessarily known to him, such as that he was a very high level dancer and that he even considered turning to the world of football before turning to acting.

The "Hollywood Icon" features a variety of people who tell quite a few things about him, and the fact that some knew him closely - like his former assistant - gives the film a more serious touch.

Who if not the people closest to any person will be able to tell the best stories about him?

We, the viewers, feel the authenticity in these stories.

Even when the film touches on darker issues in the famous actor's life, such as his alcohol addiction or the abortion his wife went through, he does so blissfully, as his associates fail not to shower him with warm words about the many different struggles he has had to deal with throughout his life.

"Hollywood Icon" tries to compress decades of life into a film that is less than 50 minutes long, and this attempt is not very successful - the most prominent example of this is his brief reference to the cancer in which he contracted, which as mentioned eventually led to his death.

The film tries to glorify Star Swayze, the one the world knew when he picked up Baby in his hands in "Corrupt Dance," by shedding light on the human, quiet, pleasant and charismatic Swayze, the one his closest ones really knew.

Even if it's not a movie that will be remembered for generations, in the end it's a nice product, one that does not renew much, if at all.

It was designed to lift for fans of Swayze, who was a big star during the 80s and 90s, who would get exactly what was expected of him in a sort of unconventional means of commemoration.

And the rest?

They will be able to rediscover a person who not only had a familiar face for them, but one who had something truly inner, that attracted people to him naturally and effortlessly.

"Patrick Swayze: A Hollywood Icon" will air tonight at 9pm on yes Doc and yes VOD
