Aldi has already made many items more expensive.

Meat is also affected, but an Aldi manager also sees advantages.

For days it has been said that Aldi * is planning to increase the price of various products.

In a first step, hundreds of products should become more expensive.

In another, the number of articles increases again.

These are consequences of the Ukraine war, but also of the corona pandemic.

Now an Aldi manager is talking about meat prices!

Aldi: Manager speaks of an explosive price development

According to agrarheute, the senior manager Mario Elbers explained in an industry forum that one sees explosive price developments.

"Therefore, we have to provide our product range with price increases for all product groups," says Elbers.

Aldi will not indiscriminately increase prices.

Elbers thus confirms what the group has already explained in the context of the previous price increases *: Aldi wants to defend itself against free-rider effects *.

The price demands of the suppliers should only be accepted if they are "reasonable and understandable" for Aldi.

Aldi: Meat industry in crisis – prices are rising

The problem with meat: The meat industry is in crisis.

On the one hand, the demand is currently on the decline, which can also be due to the awareness and the changed diet of the people in Baden-Württemberg* and Germany.

On the other hand, there are trade restrictions and rising production costs.

Especially the last one is probably a big problem for many industries.

The logistics, the production, the replenishment - there are problems at every nook and corner, which ultimately causes the costs for production to skyrocket.

Aldi: Rising meat prices have an advantage

However, the price increases are not the only topic that Aldi manager Mario Elbers has spoken about.

The statement made by Elbers on the sale of meat from higher husbandry systems was certainly also interesting.

Aldi announced months ago that in the future it would rely on the 5D rule* and also keep an eye on the way it was kept for other products.

Although customers are probably becoming more sensitive to high prices, there is also an advantage due to the rising meat prices: the demand for meat from husbandry types 3 and 4, which is normally much more expensive, will no longer be that much more expensive.

So customers could also fall back on "animal welfare meat", as agrarheute writes.
