The Oscars subsequently have a new winner of the evening.
It has four legs, is hairy and goes by the name of Mac N Cheese.
It's the little puppy that actress Jamie Lee Curtis brought onto the stage.
The occasion was an honor for the Golden Girls actress Betty White, who died at the end of 2021.
"She wasn't just a golden girl, she was a legend," Curtis said.
And: "She was a woman who not only took care of her two-legged friends, but also of animals like this one." The greatest gift one can give White is to open one's heart and one's home and a rescued dog like adopting Mac N Cheese.
And that's how it happened: Eleven-year-old Benjamin, son of Hollywood star John Travolta, recorded Mac N Cheese.
Travolta wrote this on Instagram and posted a photo with the new family member.
He also thanked Curtis and the Paw Works organization for caring for the dog.
»Magical End«
"A magical ending to last night's story," Curtis wrote on Instagram.
It's a perfect tribute to Betty White.
Giving animals protection and a loving home is one of the most important actions in life that one can decide to take.
As Paw Works summarized the adoption, "On a night of winners and losers, we think Mac N Cheese is the biggest winner of all."
Betty White, who died on New Year's Eve 2021, would have been 100 on January 17.
Her humor, talent and charm had made her a staple on television for over 60 years, cheered by generations of fans.
After her death, she was recognized for her life's work by numerous personalities, including US President Joe Biden and actor Mel Brooks.
