The German government has activated the early warning of the gas emergency plan in Germany
.
This was announced by the Minister of Economy and Climate Robert Habeck in Berlin, at a press conference at the ministry, explaining that due to the war in Ukraine, Germany is preparing for a worsening of the gas supply, which is currently guaranteed.
The gas emergency plan foresees three stages, explained Habeck: the first, that of the alert, activated today, is a "monitoring phase";
the second stage would include "the alarm" and the third the proclamation of "emergency".
At the moment, explained Habeck, there is no gas supply problem and proclaiming the alert is a "preventive decision" taken as a precautionary measure.
The price of gas in Europe is triggered after the news that Germany has activated the early warning of the emergency plan on gas.
The risk of interruptions in flows from Russia, underlying the measure, pushes futures in Amsterdam up 6.1% to 115 euros per megawatt hour.
