The new Fashion - Lifestyle Museum is being prepared in Florence

"After the closing of this exhibition, after the summer we will begin to prepare the new Museum of Fashion according to modern criteria: with new showcases that reflect the great progress we have made in recent years with regard to anti-reflective glass. This gives the possibility to have proper protection and usability according to modern times ".

This was said by Eike Schmidt, director of the Uffizi Galleries, speaking of the project for the fashion museum which from 2023 should be based in Palazzo Pitti in Florence.

    "Anyone wishing to contribute is welcome. Undoubtedly making a rearrangement costs more or less the same as doing an exhibition - added Schmidt -, therefore, we are talking about a figure that is close to one million euros. additional costs because, for example, the works have to be transported and these costs are not there, but for a more durable setting up more precious materials are used, those that last for 20/30 years at least and therefore this is an affordable figure even in time crisis ".

From an economic point of view, added Schmidt, "after two years of Covid and the lack of public, we now have the lowest budget: this year and next year will be the hardest two years. But we are very optimistic because,

in January and February we had 20% more visitors than we expected.

So the first three months of this year have been extremely positive. "

    The exhibition dedicated to the painter Giuseppe Bezzuoli, inaugurated today, is set up in the Palazzina della Meridiana, right in the spaces of the future Museum of Fashion.

"Now - said Schmidt - you can see the spaces, and you can see how big they are. Not all spaces have been used in the past. So they are spaces that have seen architectural restorations, for example, of the roof, already completed. heating was also installed in the rooms where there was not yet, so from an infrastructural point of view the most expensive works are already completed ".
