Couple leaving the bathroom after sex on a plane (Twitter)

While flying, there is nothing more natural than wanting to sit back and relax, especially if it is a long flight.

But experts warn that you should not really feel too much at home when you are on a plane.

Although airlines apply stricter restrictions in relation to the corona plague, in order to prevent infections, it turns out that there are actions that many of us take and can bring with them negative health outcomes.

Best Life Online explains what to avoid - and why.

In the bathroom: just not barefoot

Ebony Vincent, an expert in foot medicine, notes that many people endanger themselves by staying on the plane while barefoot.

According to her, walking on a plane barefoot can expose you to various bacteria and viruses.

"In this operation, you go up to 'pick up' mushrooms, not to mention the millions of bacteria that are on the plane's surfaces. In the same way, you can endanger other people. In addition, there are only a few places where the amount of bacteria exceeds that in the plane's toilet."

Stewardess Raven Johnson adds that "every time I see people doing it, I really cringe. I do not understand them. True, the planes today are cleaner than before, but still - it's not your house."

And so, despite their massive cleanliness of passenger planes today, the toilets are a place where people pass by particularly frequently.

In fact, the World Health Organization recommends general cleaning of aircraft between flights, but when it comes to thorough cleaning, the recommendation is once every 24 hours.

However, in the U.S. Aviation Administration for example, there are not really clear guidelines as to the minimum required, both as to the nature of the cleanup and as to its frequency.

Beyond all this, the small, compact space of the aircraft's services makes it easier to transfer bacteria and liquids, which make their way to the rest of the aircraft's cabin spaces.

For this reason, experts advise to avoid as much as possible bare hands in the "suspicious" parts - from the toilet seat to the door opening handle.

And of course, shoes should be worn.

"It's not just defecation. I see people entering the bathroom with open wounds or with nosebleeds," warns another flight attendant.

"Just do not walk around barefoot."

"The Plague of the Barefoot"

But the "barefoot epidemic" is not limited to the restrooms.

After all, many of the passengers like to take off their shoes on the flight.

There is even a dedicated Instagram account that is all about "shaming for flying", with a prominent representation of barefoot.

This account has already gained more than 1.4 million followers.

"Some customers tell themselves that since they paid a sum of money to get a plane ticket, they can treat the plane as their private property," says Sean Kathleen, a former flight attendant who is behind the popular Instagram account.

In the United States, this has become such a common problem that a number of airlines have indicated that they will impose sanctions on passengers that the fact that being barefoot may interfere with other passengers.

However, there are those who can not wear shoes during the flight, due to the phenomenon of swelling of the feet, which makes the shoes very uncomfortable.

You can of course walk in socks, but they will not save you from contact with different and weird liquids that accumulate on the toilet floor.

Therefore, it is advisable to put a pair of comfortable slippers in your handbag, and use them when needed.

Another solution includes equipping with elastic compression stockings with a dedicated grip at the bottom.

If you still do not have the equipment in advance, there are airlines that provide free slippers or pressure socks to their customers in the more expensive classes.

Worth asking the stewards.
