There are at least seven senators who from their posts raise white signs with the black words "No money for weapons".

The president on duty Paola Taverna called them back twice and asked for the intervention of the clerks to get them removed.

THE DEBATE IN THE CLASSROOM

"Unfortunately, with the approval of this decree, the agenda approved in the Chamber will be certified, which triggers the increase in military spending for 2% of GDP. The time has come to make a very serious reflection on this government. ".

Thus the senator of the Misto group Barbara Lezzi during the general discussion on Ukraine in the Aula at Palazzo Madama.

"The government will be able to take note of that agenda in the writing of the Def" observed Lezzi, according to which in the face of military expenses "already in the budget documents higher revenues of 12 billion a year were indicated, taking them from the SMEs with the compliance ".

"We would have voted in favor, as in the House, also in the Senate if the decree had had a normal path with amendments, agendas, improvements, comparison, instead the recourse to the vote of confidence on such a sensitive matter disavows the government".

Thus the senator of FdI Isabella Rauti, group leader in the Defense committee, announced the vote against her group on the question of confidence placed in the Senate on Ukraine.

On the political debate of Ukraine "we wanted to mount a film set to show a film far from reality".

This was stated by Davide Faraone, president of IV in the Senate, announcing the "convinced favorable" vote of his group on Ukraine.

"The League will vote for confidence in the government and would have voted it anyway because we are in favor of this measure. Our position is clear: Ukraine has the right to defend itself and the Italian government has a duty to lend all its help to the Ukrainian people. , including military aid. Also respecting the Atlantic pact ".

The leader of the Lega Massimiliano Romeo said this, speaking in explanations of vote.

"By voting for confidence, we make a convinced choice, beyond this decree, we are faced with essential, no longer eludable issues: humanitarian and military issues, but also respect for international commitments. The center-right, albeit with different nuances, has shown vision common, instead the wide field is a minefield ".

Thus the senator of Forza Italia, Maurizio Gasparri, a member of the Defense commission, during the explanations of vote on the Ukraine in the Chamber at Palazzo Madama.

"The US disengagement in Afghanistan made us believe that Europe was weaker and that Russia could make a big voice and occupy Ukraine effortlessly. Instead, Europe and NATO are, after the Russian invasion, stronger and unite. We have helped Ukraine and with sanctions we are weakening the Russian giant. Of course we have sent weapons, weapons that are helping Ukraine to resist. But this decree that we pass is concerned with helping that country in economic terms, in support to their resistance, even with defensive weapons, and above all we help the Ukrainian people, especially women and children, to escape from a war ".

Thus Senator Alessandro Alfieri, in an explanation of vote in the Chamber for the Dems on the Ukraine decree.
