Photolux, in Lucca the love for photography in 20 exhibitions

(ANSA) - LUCCA, MAR 31 - From love to pornographic cinema the declination of the theme 'You can call it Love', chosen for the new edition of Photolux Festival - Lucca International Biennial of Photography, scheduled from 21 May to 12 June in various places in the Tuscan city.

The review offers a program of 20 exhibitions, from Seiichi Furuya to Erik Kessels, from Ferdinando Scianna to Robin Schwartz, and numerous collateral events such as conferences, workshops and meetings with the protagonists of international photography.

Among the most anticipated appointments, the Brass Mon Amour exhibition, which proposes in the headquarters of Villa Bottini, 120 photographs that tell the cinematographic journey of Tinto Brass, as well as unpublished documents, such as scripts, sketches of sets and costumes, polaroids of the auditions, posters and letters.

At the Doge's Palace, the theme of love is addressed in the collective exhibition, entitled 'Say cheese!

A new family portrait 'in which the works of authors such as Rinko Kawauchi, Masahisa Fukase, Trish Morrissey, Diana Markosian and Sunil Gupta are exhibited alongside that of young photographers, including Diana Markosian, Leonard Suryajaya, Moira Ricci and Alba Zari.

Then, in the headquarters of Palazzo Guinigi, the monographic by Seiichi Furuya with the project 'Face to Face, 1978-1985' which aims to preserve, elaborate and celebrate the memory of the late companion Christine Gössler and of the seven years of love lived together.

Another Italian preview, in the former Comics museum, is that of Erik Kessels, who brings to Lucca a site-specific installation, 'Sexy Sofa',

dedicated to the erotic creativity staged in the living room of the house by the two spouses Noud and Ruby.

Five other exhibitions will also be visible in the same venue, including that of Simone Cerio who investigates the relationship between faith and homosexuality within the Catholic Church and that of Marta Bogdańska who intends to trace queer biographies of significant figures in literature, culture and 'art.

At the Casermetta San Pietro then the monographic dedicated to 'Pornoland redux' in which Stefano De Luigi rewrites the dynamics of the imaginary linked to porn cinema.

The exhibition itinerary closes with the basement of the Baluardo San Colombano basement which hosts the exhibition of the winners of the World Press Photo 2021 and the winner of the Romano Cagnoni Award 2022, Nicolò Filippo Rosso.
