(ANSA) - NEW YORK, MARCH 31 - Starting from September, Amazon parcels also arrive from the sky.
The e-commerce giant will in fact begin the viadrone home delivery experiment with approximately 1,300 customers in the towns of Lockeford, California, and College Station, Texas.
Customers, according to Business Insider, will be able to choose from approximately 3,000 items (mainly pharmaceutical, cosmetic and pet products) weighing no more than 2.3 kg.
After several months of small-scale testing, the experiment represents an important step forward for Amazon's drone delivery project.
With 'Prime Air' the company aims to reach 12,000 total flights by the end of 2022. The long-term goal is to have 145 drone launch platforms in the country for the delivery of 500 million packages per year.
