Behind a simple black door, at the Noisy Mont d'Est stop of the RER A, hides one of the most unusual places in Île-de-France: a mini-m

He hides just behind a black door, usually padlocked, a few meters from a bucolic green fresco.

Most RER A passengers who stop at Noisy-le-Grand Mont d'Est (93) are unaware of its existence and pass by without noticing it.

And yet the SK mini-metro is still there, abandoned since the 2000s. These small autonomous cabins, inaugurated in 1993, have given way to a field of ruins.

The wagons, now tagged and boned, will never run again.

The 518m of rails have been almost completely dismantled.

This very small transport network was born, already almost doomed by the real estate crisis of the 90s. Built to connect two districts of this new city, it no longer had to exist when the development project for the second district, Mailles Horizon , was buried.

The mini-metro, which came out of the ground too soon, ended up in a wasteland and no longer had any reason to exist.

Maintained in activity with great reinforcements of public money from 1993 to 1999, the wagons were gradually abandoned.

Since then, the 2500 m2 of the resort have become the playground of graffiti artists and urbex enthusiasts.

A more “underground” chapter which should soon be completed.

The town hall of Noisy-le-Grand is preparing to launch a call for projects from April 8 to try to give a second life to this unique space.

Restaurant, bar, climbing wall: the place should be able to accommodate the public by 2025, according to the mayor.
