With more than 997,230 km on the clock, the car of Fabrice Gommé, a resident of Fournival in the Oise, will soon reach the bar

The gray Peugeot 307 of Fabrice Gommé, a 53-year-old resident of the Oise, should cover a million kilometers traveled... A very rare longevity, which the 50-year-old explains by the maintenance he has given to his vehicle, and above all the work of its mechanic, Jérémy, who has taken care of the Peugeot since its first technical inspection.

“I trusted Jérémy, and I told him that together we were going to take care of the maintenance of the car”.

A collaboration that has proved fruitful, because since the purchase of this second-hand car in 2007, Fabrice has never had to change the engine.

“The engine is the same, the turbo, too, the injection rail, too, the clutch too!

No problem.

"A few elements had to be replaced, however, such as the gearbox, "at approximately 600,000 km", explains Fabrice, who opted with his mechanic for a second-hand part.

“I have always fought against planned obsolescence and my idea with this car is as long as it works, we keep going!

From now on, the project and “dream” of this fifty-year-old, who bought this second-hand car for the needs of his family, is to go and thank the workers who participated in its manufacture in front of their factory.

"The process was done during the first confinement, when we could no longer shake hands," explains Fabrice.

While talking with a longtime friend, he then came up with the idea of paying tribute to the workers who built his vehicle, "to say thank you to them", by going directly to shake their hands in front of two Peugeot factories, in Trémery (Moselle) and Montbeliard (Doubs).

With his friends Thierry and Mattéo, Fabrice hopes to rally other people to the project.

While waiting for the departure, they launched a kitty to finance their road trip.

“The fact of going there all together, with friends, and that others join us, that can be cool”, explains, enthusiastic, Mattéo, 19 years old.

The convoy plans to leave Fournival, in the Oise, on May 26, to head successively to the two factories where Fabrice's Peugeot was manufactured.

"Showing young people that we have factories, that we have that in France, it's still great," summarizes Fabrice.
