More money, tax breaks and news about Corona: April will bring these changes

In April, consumers will have a few things to know.

The second quarter of 2022 begins on April 1st. And like every month, there are innovations that consumers should know.
Munich – Corona, inflation, rising energy prices and the war in Ukraine are keeping people busy.
But with the new month, Germans are faced with a number of issues that are worth knowing.
Among other things, there is more money for temporary workers, fewer fees for service numbers and an extension of the Corona-related special regulations.
New from April - Extension of Corona-related special regulations
Whether event management, creatives or the hospitality industry - some sectors have to reckon with the fact that there can always be restrictions due to the pandemic.
The Federal Council has therefore approved an extension of the Corona-related special regulation regarding short-time work.
It was supposed to expire at the end of March, but will be extended until June 30, 2022.
Acute aid for caring relatives will also be extended.
According to the Family Caregiver Leave Act, those affected can continue to miss up to 20 working days due to an acute care situation in the company.
The changes also apply to the Caregiver Leave Act.
More money for civil servants from April
Many officials have reason to be happy.
As of April 1, 2022, salaries in the public sector, at the federal and municipal levels, will increase by 1.8 percent compared to the previous salaries.
Apprentices get 25 euros more.
More money for temporary workers from April
Temporary workers can look forward to a little more pay.
On April 1, the collectively agreed minimum wage for temporary work will rise from EUR 10.45 to EUR 10.88.
Less money for 0137 numbers from April
Price differences between landline and mobile phones for calls to 0137 numbers will be a thing of the past from April 1, 2022.
Companies like to use the 0137 numbers for viewer voting, for example for television programs or competitions.
If things go according to the plan of the responsible federal network agency, the federal authority adjusts the prices - as with the 0180 numbers too.
From April Higher relocation fee for the tax return
From April 2022, anyone moving for professional reasons can claim a higher lump sum for moving costs in their tax return.
For singles it increases from 870 to 886 euros.
For spouses or life partners, it is 1,476 euros instead of the previous 1,450 euros.
There is a surcharge of 590 euros each for children or other relatives (previously 580 euros).
In April: Partial solar eclipse
Not new in April, but worth mentioning is the partial solar eclipse on the 30th of the month.
The natural phenomenon will take place almost exclusively over the Southern Ocean.
You can see them in the evening hours in Chile and southwest Argentina.
And probably on social media.
Innovations at DHL from April
Picking up the parcel at the DHL Packstation instead of at home is a practical alternative for many customers.
Previously, customers needed the provider's customer card for this.
From April 1st it should be easier.
Then you can use the Packstations via the DHL app "Post & DHL".
