The info not to miss

Winter is here again this April 1st.

This Friday, Météo France places 20 departments on orange alert for risk of snow and ice until at least Saturday morning: Calvados, Seine-Maritime, Eure and Orne, Creuse, Puy-de- Dôme, Haute-Loire, Loire, Ain, Isère, Allier, Cantal, Aveyron, Haute-Vienne, Corrèze, Ariège, Haute-Garonne, Hautes-Pyrénées and the Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

In his midday bulletin, the forecaster adds the department of Tarn to this list and now excludes the North, Pas-de-Calais and Somme.

The temperatures are particularly low, after the mildness of this last week: in Île-de-France, the thermometer should not exceed 4 degrees during the day.

For Météo France, this snowy episode is “unusual for the start of spring, sufficiently notable to disrupt traffic and certain economic activities”.

The snow has indeed caused some damage on French roads, especially in the Loire, in the Pilat massif and the Forez mountains, according to the services of the departmental council.

In Saint-Étienne, 5 to 10 centimeters of snow fell in places and school transport was suspended in the metropolis and in Pilat.

Traffic was also tricky in Hauts-de-France, around Saint-Omer and south of Dunkirk.

  • Loïk Le Priol presented to justice.

The former soldier and activist of the ultra-right Groupe Union Défense (GUD) movement, the main suspect in the murder of former Argentinian rugby international Federico Martin Aramburu, must be brought to justice, after his surrender to France by the Hungary where he was arrested.

  • World Cup: it's the big day of the draw.

The world of football is hanging today on the draw for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where the favorites, like defending champion France, are hoping for mild skies in the shade of the Doha skyscrapers.
