The collective management company for authors, composers and music publishers, Sacem, is still feeling the aftermath of the Covid crisis, which has particularly affected live performance.
“Between 2020 and 2021, we recorded a drop of 300 million euros in collection.
And, unfortunately, we do not expect a full recovery in 2022, as the virus continues to circulate and the French face a problem of purchasing power.
If some headliners like Orelsan are sold out, most of the other artists perform in front of half-empty rooms”,
notes Cécile Rap-Veber, general manager and manager of Sacem.
“The risk is the disappearance of a certain diversity of artists and a greater difficulty for those who are starting their careers.”
