A technique to have a well-proportioned and elegant silhouette? This is what an expert in British fashion offers us to put an end to style mistakes.

Isn't fashion, after all, all about tricks?

British stylist Lydia Tomlinson shared one lately that will help more than one.

The one who has the credo of optimizing her wardrobe by using key pieces that we already have has thus unveiled her “

sandwich rule

” or “the sandwich dressing” on Instagram.

An unstoppable method for learning to combine proportions and colors effectively.

A filling between two slices of bread

Imagine your outfit as a sandwich.

The top - a sweater, a jacket - represents the bread above, the pants or skirt in the middle symbolizes the filling and finally the shoes (the bottom of your outfit) designate the bread below.

“Like a sandwich, the method is to have the same composition at the top and bottom and something different in the middle,” explains stylist Lydia Tomlinson simply.

We note: similar proportions, therefore, for the bread above and that below, but the filling must be different to have a harmonious look.

The English style expert takes the example of an outfit without contrast where jacket, sweater, and pants are wide.

“One way to use the method is to go wide at the top and bottom, with an XXL jacket and thick-soled ankle boots, but paired with pants that are close to the body in the middle,” she advises.

This trick “immediately creates relief in the outfit and prevents you from being drowned in the garment”, enthuses the coach.

A trick that we can reproduce and adopt also for color.
