Isamu Noguchi is, for many, this magician of purity hidden in the glow of his Akari lamps which float in space like clouds.

However, behind this designer light, so contemporary, lurks an extraordinary artist with his avant-garde curiosity, his creative power, his interdisciplinary spirit, his political commitment as a pacifist.

The Museum Ludwig in Cologne, sanctuary of "Postwar" art and pop art, hosts until July 31 the first complete retrospective, for more than twenty years, of the American-Japanese sculptor, born in 1904 in Los Angeles and died in 1988 in New York.
