(ANSA) - NAPLES, 04 APR - Teatro San Carlo in Naples sold out tonight for the "#StandWithUkraine -Ballet for Peace" fundraising gala: protagonists of the first dancers from the most prestigious stages in the world, with proceeds donated to the Ukrainian people.
Olga Smirnova, one of the biggest stars of dance, who left the Moscow Bolshoi after denouncing the invasion of Ukraine, and Anastasia Gurskaya, principal dancer of the Kiev Opera, will perform.
But the charity event becomes a diplomatic case, after the interventions of the consul general of Ukraine in Naples Maksym Kovalenko for which it is not possible to put victims and aggressors on the same level.
Moreover, the consulate with a post on facebook invited the Ukrainian community to boycott it.
initiative by suggesting that photos of the victims of the Russians be shown outside the theater.
The title of the ballet itself was changed by San Carloieri with a statement in the evening: first it was Ballet for peace, then it became the same as the campaign to support Ukraine, "# StandWithUkraine".
Considering a lack of respect for the possible embrace on stage between the stars (it had already happened to San Carlo on February 26, between the Ukrainian soprano Liudmyla Monastyrska and the Russian mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova, alternating with the Aida, with general emotion), the minister of Ukrainian culture.
The fear would be that of an exploitation of the message of peace in favor of Russian propaganda.
