Filming on the fifth part of the »Indiana Jones« feature film series has only been completed for a few weeks - now it has been announced: Harrison Ford will take on one of the leading roles in a series for the first time in his career.
According to information from industry portals such as »Variety« and »Hollywoodreporter«, he is playing with Jason Segel in the Apple TV+ production »Shrinking«.
The comedy series is produced by Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein and Segel himself.
»Shrinking« is about a grieving therapist Jimmy (Segel), who breaks with the rules of his training and, despite all ethical concerns, tells his clients what he thinks.
Ford plays alongside him the psychiatrist Dr.
Phil Rhodes, a pioneer in cognitive behavioral therapy.
He shares his practice with Jimmy and Gaby.
Rhodes struggles with his Parkinson's diagnosis and family issues.
It is the first regular series role for Ford. In the 1960s and 1970s he had several guest appearances in television series such as "The Boss" and "Gunsmoke".
But he is best known for film productions such as “Blade Runner”, “The Only Witness” or “Indiana Jones”: the fifth part of the series has been announced for 2023.
In 2020, Ford starred in the film adaptation of Pirates of the Wild.
Harrison Ford appeared as a doctor in the thriller »Frantic« (1988), directed by Roman Polanski.
Five years later he stood as Dr.
Richard Kimble in front of the camera in the feature film »On the Run« by director Andrew Davis.
Shrinking is the third series Lawrence is producing on Apple TV+, following Ted Lasso and the previously unreleased series Bad Monkey, starring Vince Vaughn.
Segel can currently be seen in the HBO series Winning Time and the feature film Heaven Over Me on Apple TV+.
