"In the majority meeting, a broad agreement was reached on the reform of the judiciary. I express satisfaction for the mature attitude held by the groups, under the direction of Minister Cartabia. Now ahead with the work of the Justice Commission in order to meet the deadlines" .
Thus the Undersecretary of Justice Francesco Paolo Sisto.
"We have defined a majority agreement on the text of the reform of the CSM. Punctual evaluations of the activities of the judges with the performance file, strict compliance with the presumption of innocence, suspension from functions for the Public Prosecutor asking for arrests by failing to attach relevant elements for the decision, stop at revolving doors, crackdown on out-of-office positions, just one career changeover. So many steps forward contained in the Action amendments, that once again, on justice is decisive, announced Enrico Costa, Deputy Secretary of Action in commenting on the summit with Minister Cartabia.
According to the Democratic Party, however, problems remain.
"We are one step away from completing the process to get to the approval of an important reform of the CSM. An agreement has been reached, but a great political knot still remains open: two majority political forces, Italia Viva and Lega, they still do not withdraw the amendments on which there is an opinion against the government and there remains ambiguity as to how they will vote in committee. This is not acceptable ".
This was declared by the Head of Justice of the Democratic Party, Anna Rossomando.
Here are some points of the understanding.
Judge-pm, only one change of duties within 10 years
- It will be possible only once in the career of a magistrate to change functions from judge to pm and vice versa and the choice must be made within a period of 10 years.
But the limit will not apply if the functions are exercised in the civil sector.
This is what is foreseen by the agreement reached by the majority on the reform of the CSM.
Electoral law, draw of the Courts of Appeal to form the constituencies
- Draw of the Courts of Appeal to form the constituencies: this is what the agreement reached by the majority on the electoral law of the CSM provides.
The system remains binominal majority with a proportional corrective as had been agreed in the Council of Ministers which had approved the government amendments to the reform of the CSM.
