(ANSA) - NAPLES, APRIL 09 - The curtain rises on Procida, the Italian Capital of Culture 2022 with the first of the five scheduled shows today staged in Calata Porta di Massa, in the port area of ​​Naples.

Piano Sky notes accompanied guests' access to the special ferry that will take them to the island.


    "Suspended piano" is the name of the show which includes a piano and a pianist who plays live raised to tremetri height.

Suspended in the belly of the ship, the young pianist Renata Benvegnù performed before her departure various musical genres: from pop music to jazz, from the honor columns of great cinema to contemporary music.


    This is the first of the five sequential shows scheduled in the afternoon (the other four are scheduled in Procida at 4.30 pm; 6.30 pm; 7.00 pm and 7.45 pm) all inspired by the suggestion of the Myths of the Sea.

Over 200 artists engaged today.

The highlight at 6.40 pm with the Head of State, Sergio Mattarella, who will kick off the institutional ceremony in the former convent of Santa Margherita Nuova in Terra Murata in the presence of the President of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico, the Minister of Cultural Heritage Dario Franceschini, the President of the Campania Region Vincenzo De Luca and the director of Procida 2022, Agostino Riitano.

Impressive numbers of the event: 44 cultural projects (34 of which original) and 150 events on the bill in about 300 days of programming with 350 artists from 45 different countries around the world.
