Damascus-SANA

Today, the Ministry of Education issued instructions to retrieve textbooks distributed free of charge in the basic education stage at the end of the current school year 2021-2022.

The ministry asked its directorates in the governorates to work on recovering school books, indicating that this procedure comes in its keenness on the optimal use of the textbook by students, in order to reduce the number of printed copies annually, and to preserve the textbook and reduce its waste.

The ministry clarified that all textbooks distributed free of charge are retrieved from students from the first to the ninth grades of basic education, except for students who have failed in the ninth grade, who keep their books, while the books are not retrieved from students of the second cycle of basic education in the schools of outstanding students and remain in their possession.

The ministry pointed out that the books retrieved from students at the end of the current school year are kept in schools, and all books of old editions in schools are kept until instructions are issued regarding the redistribution of textbooks for the 2022-2023 school year.

The instructions indicated that students in grades four to nine will be fined the value of each book that is not returned to the school if it was distributed free of charge for the first time only and according to approved financial receipts attached to organized tables for this purpose, calling on those wishing to know more details to enter the ministry’s website.
