The scarcity and rising costs of energy and raw materials now also have consequences for the breweries in Germany.

The price of beer is skyrocketing.

Stuttgart - In the past few weeks, it has become increasingly clear what effects Russia's attack on Ukraine is also having on Germany.

Above all, many foods and raw materials experienced an enormous price increase as a result of the Ukraine war or are hardly available in supermarkets such as Kaufland, Lidl and Co.

Cooking oil, wheat and thus bread and rolls are becoming scarce and expensive due to the war in Ukraine (BW24* reported).

But energy prices and the situation surrounding the gas supply are not only a concern for citizens, but also for many companies across the country.

Trigema boss Wolfgang Grupp from Baden-Württemberg has already said that his gas bill has exploded and there is a risk of a production stop - he therefore advocates gas imports from Russia *.

The factors surrounding energy and raw materials are now forcing the beer industry to take drastic consequences.

Beer brewers are sounding the alarm: costs are threatening to spiral out of control

The rapidly increasing energy and raw material costs mean that beer, the most popular alcoholic drink in this country, is becoming more expensive.

Brewers would have no choice but to pass prices on to consumers.

Holger Eichele, the general manager of the German Brewers' Association, even speaks of a "dramatic" development for the breweries in Germany.

"The costs are skyrocketing, they threaten to get completely out of hand," Eichele raises the alarm.

Almost all raw materials needed for the brewing industry are affected by the price increases caused by the Ukraine war.

Accordingly, not only wheat and barley are scarce, glass, labels and metal for the crown caps are also missing, as the

reports.

In addition, according to the German Brewers' Association, the breweries are already badly hit by massive losses due to the corona pandemic.

Strong dependency of breweries on Ukraine surprises social media users

While some users on Facebook are shocked by the rise in beer prices, many other users are wondering why breweries are so dependent on Ukraine.

"Suddenly all producers and manufacturers noticed that actually everything that exists comes 100 percent from Ukraine and unfortunately the prices have to be increased," writes one user.

"What we import from Ukraine," says a surprised Facebook user.

Similar to another user who wonders why Ukraine seems to be the center of the world.

Still other users do not believe that the increase in prices has anything to do with the war in Ukraine.

"It's all whining at a high level.

In truth, everyone just wants to use this war to increase their prices and cash in properly," suspects one user.

"One has the impression that a lot of things come when called," says another.

Users fear that this is all a tactic of the companies.

"This is how you can also promote hamster purchases," writes a user.
