A 35-year-old man was hospitalized in the Bronx, New York, after arriving at the emergency room with pain and a burning sensation in his penis and scrotum - three days after injecting cocaine directly into the main vein of his penis.

Instead, he received an infusion of intravenous antibiotics for five days.
After a surprising improvement in his condition, the man refused to join a drug rehab program and does not appear to be listening to his doctors' recommendations for further follow-up.
The medical report reads: "Intravenous drug users should be advised to seek help and sign up for a drug rehab program, as stopping cocaine use is the ultimate treatment."
The authors of the report did not clarify why the man's penis changed color after injecting cocaine into it and it is not known what the man's condition was after the treatment.
