The national team of the Syrian Mathematical Olympiad won a bronze medal and a certificate of appreciation in the European Math Olympiad for Girls, organized by Hungary remotely on the 8th and 9th of April.

According to a statement by the Excellence and Creativity Commission, SANA received a copy of it. The student Mary Seif Askar from Tartous received the bronze medal, while the student Bana Fadel Muhanna from Aleppo received a certificate of appreciation.

The authority pointed out that this is a new international achievement achieved by the Syrian Olympiad, indicating that this competition is the 11th edition of the European Mathematical Olympiad for Girls, and 56 countries participated in it.

The Commission explained that it is the first time that the Syrian Scientific Olympiad has joined this competition, as its participation was limited to two members of the national team of the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in the field of mathematics, who participated from the Commission's headquarters in Damascus.

It is noteworthy that the competitions included two test rounds, each lasting four and a half hours continuously. As soon as the tests are completed, the answers are sent to Hungary to be corrected by the International Scientific Committee of the competition, and the marks and results are calculated.
