Bus and train travel for just €9 a month – Bundestag votes in May

In May, a vote is to be taken on whether regional transport in Germany should only cost 9 euros a month for three months from June.
In order to relieve consumers - not least because of the financial consequences of the Ukraine war* -, according to the
transport committee of the Bundestag
, the
9-euro ticket in regional transport should be available on June 1st
and
be valid
throughout Germany , as the

reported.
At least you could avoid the high fuel prices if you don't really know what to do about the increased heating costs.
For three months, i.e. June, July and August, commuters who normally travel by car are to be encouraged to switch to public transport.

Otherwise, those commuters who travel across the borders of federal states and tariff associations will be disadvantaged.”

According to the RND report, the federal government is ready to assume the entire cost of the
estimated 2.5 billion euros
for the three-month experiment.

When will the decision on the Germany-wide 9-euro ticket be made?
According to the RND, the
Bundestag
is to vote on the draft law for the 9-euro ticket, which should apply nationwide,
on either 18 or 19 May .
The
Federal Council
is to
follow
on May 20th .
It is questionable whether the 9-euro ticket will be decided in time for June 1st.
